Ordering & Customization

How do I order a custom firefighter helmet shield?
Select the shield style you like and choose your text for the top, middle, and bottom sections. Email any logo to boxalarmink@gmail.com.

What information do I need to provide when ordering a shield?
Please provide your logo, top, middle, and bottom text, along with any additional information you would like included.

Can I send you my department logo or artwork?
Yes, please send it to boxalarmink@gmail.com.

What file formats do you accept for logos or artwork?
SVG format is preferred. High-quality JPEG or PNG files are also acceptable, preferably with the background removed.

Will I see a design proof before my shield is made?
Yes, we will email you a design proof. If you would like revisions, we are happy to make adjustments.

Can you design a shield if I only have an idea or rough sketch?
Yes; however, we are not graphic designers and do not create custom logos.

Fit & Compatibility

Will your helmet shields fit my fire helmet?
One size definitely does not fit all. Depending on your helmet, our shields may not work.

Many firefighter helmets use different shield sizes and hole patterns. All of our shields are 6" tall.

  • 5" Tall x 5.5" Wide – Example: Some Fire-Dex helmets
  • 6" Tall x 5.5" Wide – Example: Cairns 1010 & 1044
  • 6.25" Tall x 6" Wide – Example: Pacific F18 and select Cairns 1010 & 1044
  • 6.5" Tall x 6" Wide – Example: Cairns N5A and N6A leather helmets
  • 6.5" Tall x 6.25" Wide – Example: Phenix TL-2 minimum size; also fits Cairns N5A/N6A

What size helmet front do your shields fit?
Our shields are 6" tall x 5.75" wide. They can fit helmets that use 6.5" shields by centering the shield between the brim and the shield holder. They will not fit helmets that use a 5" shield.

Do the shields come pre-drilled?
No, we supply a template with the most common hole pattern, but it is up to the customer to measure, mark, and drill the holes.

Can shields be curved to fit my helmet?
We curve all shields before they leave our shop. If you would prefer a flat shield, please let us know.

Materials & Durability

What material are your helmet shields made from?
Galvanized metal, making them waterproof and weather-resistant.

Will the colors fade over time?
Colors will not fade from sunlight or normal use. However, if exposed to extreme heat beyond the limits of turnout gear, SCBA masks, and components, the industrial sublimation coating may fade in rare cases.

How durable are metal firefighter helmet shields?
They are built tough for firefighters working on the fireground.

Design Options

What styles of helmet shields do you offer?
Currently, we offer traditional and notched shields. We also have limited chevron styles remaining, but we are no longer stocking them.

What colors are available for shields and lettering?
With sublimation, color and styling options are virtually endless.

Can I add rank, station number, or department name?
Yes, absolutely.

Can I add custom artwork or logos to the center?
Yes, please email us your logo.

Do you offer special edition or themed shields?
Yes, we can create special edition and themed shields for you or your event.

Shipping & Production Time

How long does it take to make a custom shield?
Typically, production takes only a couple of days after you approve the design proof.

How long does shipping take?
We primarily ship using USPS Ground Advantage, which usually takes about 3–4 days for delivery.

Do you offer rush orders?
Customers may choose Priority Shipping for faster delivery.

Will I receive tracking information?
Yes, once your item is completed, our system will email you tracking information.

Gifts & Special Uses

Can shields be made as retirement or award plaques?
Yes, we offer custom plaques.

Can the shield be made flat for display instead of for a helmet?
Yes, upon request.

Care & Maintenance

How do I clean my helmet shield?
Use mild soap and water with a soft brush.

Can a damaged shield be repaired?
In general, any helmet shields, metal or leather cannot be repaired to its orgainal state.

Can firefighters design their own helmet shield?
Yes, firefighters can provide their own shield design, nameplate background, or custom playing card artwork. If you design it, we can make it.
